Our Programs How We Do It

Programs

Our programs target the immediate food needs of individuals and families in northern Toronto by supplying food and providing training and support to a large network of member agencies. We run our own community food spaces where food assistance, food skill-building activities and partnerships with diverse organizations merge to create a dynamic and lively environment for our clients. Every day our volunteers and an amazing group of dedicated staff work to create meaningful programs, which enhance food security in Toronto.

Food collection and distribution

As one of Toronto’s largest food banks, collecting and distributing food to people is our core business.  Each day, our trucks are on the road picking up food and donations and bringing them back to our distribution centre, where we sort, store and re-distribute to our network of 65 community programs. More than 2.3 million pounds of food moved through our warehouse in 2014.

Food Assistance Our agencies provide a broad spectrum of food assistance depending on the need of our clients; Immediate Hamper Programs, Meal/Snack Programs, Supplementary Programs, Home Delivery Hamper Programs
